Assignment 2 - Coogee Community Centre

Cafe




This is the cross section detail of the cafe. The cafe is directly facing towards the coogee oval. There is an elevated timber deck situated in front of big piece of glass facade connected with steel post. The glass facade will be constructed with electrically operated aluminium smoke-vent window for better ventilation. This allow to provide viewing pleasure over coogee oval by relaxing on sofas around that area.


Below the cafe will be supported by row of columns and created a loggia. Players or visitors able to rest under the sheltered area. There is a pathway below the building which go through to the loggia from the other side of the street. While passing through the pathway, rooms like toilet and change rooms, technical room and other storerooms are allocated in between for easy access.

Large Gym Hall


This is the cross section detail of the large multipurpose gym hall. There will be a 2nd level deck articulate the gym hall where visitors allow to look over the hall to enjoy the activities happening below of it. The gym hall's floor is layered with synthetic sports floor above the concrete floor to give some cushion feel for sport players. Warren steel truss spans across the concrete flat roof for a more stable construction. The facade will be glass connected with steel post painted green to match the surrounding.

Small Gym Hall + Community Kitchen


The small multipurpose gym hall suspended above the large gym hall. It has two different ceiling heights. The front part of the small multipurpose gym hall will be inserted a piece of glass constructed with timber clad concrete wall. The floor of the gym will be using synthetic sports hall which is the same the large gym hall. Again, people able to overlook the large gym hall from upstairs. Below the small multipurpose gym hall is the community kitchen which adjacent to the large gym hall. A sliding partition wall is constructed in front of the community kitchen where it can be opened up to organize any kind of events. The community kitchen will be using mosaic tiles as the floor material for easy cleaning.
